FOR some reason, the Tories thought attacking the Scottish Government because an promotional campaign mentioned the Queensferry Crossing was a good look.
The #ScotlandIsNow video promoted a separatist agenda, they claimed, by mentioning one of Scotland's finest achievements (as the UK Government have also done). Here's our full report on that story.
Tory MSP Rachael Hamilton tweeted out her condemnation.
Scottish Government tourism campaign pushes SNP message with examples of the baby box and queensferry crossing. I would hope the intention of Visit Scotland isn’t to promote nationalism?@VisitScotland VisitScotland https://t.co/fi6nWIO4Rf

Baby boxes & bridges are 'nationalism' now. Scotland is the only country in the world where opposition politicians think the promotion of our strengths & achievements is just another nationalist ploy to make Scotland look good. We should just say we're really shit, obviously. https://t.co/9HxoGOb2a3

These are GOOD THINGS. Scotland should promote GOOD THINGS. What is *wrong* with you?

Visit Scotland: Welcome, please enjoy some of our magnificent engineering and our values of tolerance and care. You are welcome-
(unionist jumps in)
Unionist: GO HOME! WE'RE A SHITE COUNTRY! WE HATE OURSELVES! BREXIT MEANS BREXIT! https://t.co/WExurvHfna

Do you want to comment on claims Scotland Office funding was used to target facebook adverts (propaganda from UK Govt on cross border trade etc) on Mr Mundell’s constituency, Rachael, given it allegedly happened in run up to 2017 General Election?

A Tory MSP whinging that a visit scotland ad shows off the Queensferry bridge- one of the most impressive modern engineering builds in he country- because it's an SNP thing. The SNP also like sunshine, is she gonna call to get all the clips filmed during the day removed? #Tories https://t.co/uAzoMj8WBg

Disgraceful that the "project of the decade" award winning Queensferry Crossing should be highlighted.
— naebd (@naebD) July 20, 2018
Incredibly divisive.
The ad must be recut with equally negative and positive messages so pro-UK voices are represented on a par with pro-Scotland ones.

Promoting Scotland is their job, it is though a side benefit that mentioning Scottish successes like the Queensferry Crossing and baby boxes makes Tories/ Lib Dem’s apoplectic.

See instead of having cheap shots at really unimportant things, have a read at the thread by @CaptainKim about the trauma the Home Office are causing and maybe focus your energy on making a difference to real lives, as in actually doing your job that you’re paid very well for.

Should we kid on that we don't have bridges in Scotland at all? Build a wall instead, maybe? 🤷♀️ https://t.co/sWlCwpcAyC

Oh dear! It's a shame that the latest socail innovations are all SNP eh? I mean if that had a number of Tory led acomplishments in it, you'd be sharing it like a rash. The question you should be asking is why, no Tory acomplishments are featured. Hint, there are none in Scotland!

It shows some of the many positive things about Scotland. It’s quite something that unionists equate that with @theSNP policies😁

How are bridges and boxes nationalistic? Are you arguing that all policy decisions taken by the SNP are geared towards nationalism? Really? Are bin collections nationalistic?
— Campbell #FBPE (@RickCampbell12) July 20, 2018
You're a capable politician Rachael but this is really not a good look.

Wait....a baby box is nationalism? Get a grip! 😂😂😂

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
