THERE is so much going on in the Yes DIY movement that it is sometimes hard to keep up as new groups start up across the country.

North, south east and west, we are hearing of new Yes groups and the re-launching of old ones, or the transformation of existing groups to what might be called battle-ready formations.

This very day, for instance, the well-organised Yes Arbroath and Scotland’s Corner group are meeting to set up a team specifically to campaign for independence when the second referendum is called.

From 2 to 4pm at the Fisherman’s Inn, 57 High St, Arbroath, there will be an open meeting which will result in the establishment of a campaign team.

The group told us: “Yes Arbroath and Scotland’s Corner are having another open meeting with a view to forming a team to promote independence. Come and meet like-minded people. Everyone welcome.”

Further up the east coast, on Saturday afternoon, #ScotRef Peterhead will host an afternoon with author and playwright Alan Bissett, speaking about Scottish independence.

The venue is The Harbour Lights (Peterhead) Ltd, at 122-124 Longate, Peterhead, from 1.30pm to 4pm.

Bissett is always entertaining and thought-provoking. The organisers tell us entry is entry, and you can book via Eventbrite. There will be a collection of non-perishable foods for the Trussell Trust who do such great work with Scotland’s food banks that will hopefully disappear in an independent nation.
