The Dog Rescuers with Alan Davies, C5, 8pm
INSPECTOR Anthony Joynes comes to the aid of a rotund Rottweiler that has been cooped up indoors by owners who have a ban on keeping animals. An elderly Akita named Bear is signed over to the charity when its owner sees she’s starting to struggle with the stairs to his flat, and Angellica Bell discovers what rescue dogs are capable of when she’s introduced to the team at Medical Detection Dogs, who have been successfully training man’s best friend to sniff out diseases such as cancer and malaria.

THE last episode of this thought-provoking series features 37-year-old Elaine from Northern Ireland, and her 20-year-old boyfriend Shane who are hoping that an engagement party will help to overcome her family’s objections to their age gap. In south London, Junior, who was raised in a devout Christian family, wants to get his dad’s blessing before he converts to Islam in order to marry his girlfriend, and Aldershot couple Chloe and Jack have finally got her mum on board for their wedding, but will old tensions resurface on the big day?

THE conclusion of the critically acclaimed sci-fi drama sees Laura in a race against time to stop Basswood. Her reputation is already on the line – but is she willing to give up her family and her freedom to save the Synths? Meanwhile, it looks as if Niska has reached her journey’s end, while Mia, Leo and Max stand together in final battle, with seemingly little hope of making it out alive. RHS Hampton Court Flower Show 2018, BBC2, 9.30pm
JOE Swift and Jo Whiley take a look at what to expect at this year’s show in south-west London, joined by experts Carol Klein, Adam Frost, Arit Anderson and Nick Bailey, as they reveal some of the stunning show gardens and high-summer exhibits in the floral marquee. The annual event attracts thousands of visitors and among the highlights this year is the creation of a garden inspired by the British landscape, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the BBC’s Countryfile.
