AROUND 10,000 independence supporters turned out for the All Under One Banner (AUOB) march in Dumfries.

That was the estimate from Nithsdale Police, who were aided in stewarding the event by Annan Community Policing Unit.

Organisers had said initially that they'd be happy if a couple of thousand took part.

Those in attendance basked in the sunshine – despite initial fear of heavy rain – as they marched from Dumfries town centre through the streets until they reached their final destination of Dock Park.

The event comes after a similar event in Glasgow last month. An estimated 60,000 turned out for that event and while numbers were more modest this time around, it is an impressive number given the size of Dumfries.
