CHARITABLE causes in Glasgow will get a big boost this weekend as a taxi firm holds its annual “50p Sunday”.

Glasgow Taxis will support charities across the city, having pledged that 50p from every fare will go to the STV Children’s Appeal.

The firm chose the date to coincide with the city’s Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalk, and will also donate £1000 to STV2’s Live at Five reporter Laura Boyd’s charity campaign.

Stephen Flynn, chairman of Glasgow Taxis, said: “We’re delighted to continue to support the STV Children’s Appeal and do what we can to help those who need it most. We’ll be cheering on Laura, and everyone who is taking part on Sunday.”

Last year’s campaign raised £3000 for the charity.

Natalie Wright of the STV Children’s Appeal thanked the firm for the suppot, and said: “Every donation brings us one step closer to making a real difference to the lives of children and young people affected by poverty in Scotland.”
