A TRIO of rugby stars from Glasgow Warriors has helped upmarket home builder Cala Homes (West) mark an important construction milestone at its prestigious 21 Mansionhouse Road in the city.
The development has now reached its full height of 12 metres and the moment was marked with a traditional topping out ceremony, helped along by three of the Warriors’ tallest stars.
Senior land manager Andrew Duncan, pictured left, and Colin McCarney, right, the site manager, led the Warriors out as they donned their hard hats and went to the top of the first apartment building to be completed on the site, to celebrate the creation of the new community.
A 40-strong construction team has already clocked up more than 64,500 hours creating 21 Mansionhouse Road in the popular Southside suburb of Langside.
The development comprises 101 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and a suite of penthouses offering spectacular views over the city.
Ratu Taigve, Samu Vunisa and Brian Alainu’use from the premier Glasgow Warriors rugby team – of which CALA Homes (West) is an official sponsor and charity partner supporting its youth camps – were the first people to stand on top of the completed building and took their ball to score a lucky try while they were up there.
The Warriors compete on two of the biggest stages in world club rugby – they are past winners of the Guinness Pro 14 and also play in the European Rugby Champions Cup.
Duncan said: “We were delighted to welcome the Glasgow Warriors players to 21 Mansionhouse Road to mark the Topping Out of our first building at the development.
“A huge amount of hard work has got us to this stage and it’s at a point now the development will really start to come to life.
the senior land manager added: “21 Mansionhouse Road embodies the commitment to architectural excellence and a high specification product for our homebuyers, who really have something special here at Langside.
“I would like to extend my thanks to the construction team for their hard work so far and to Glasgow Warriors for helping to mark this milestone.”
The second phase of the apartments in Weavers Court at 21 Mansionhouse Road has now been released after resounding interest in the development and a high level of reservations.
It is situated in one of South Glasgow’s most sought-after neighbourhoods and offers a host of local amenities on its doorstep.
Langside train station is just over half a mile from the development, with regular services into the centre of Glasgow taking between ten and 15 minutes.
There are also extensive bus routes in and out of the city centre and the motorway network is easily accessible.
According to Cala the development is perfect for either those planning to upsize to a more spacious home, or for others planning to downsize.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
