ITS re-opening is still two years away, but work is progressing on the multi-million pound refurbishment of the A-listed museum building that houses the Burrell Collection.

Here, Stevie Maley from Burnfield Demolition is pictured dismantling ducting in the plant room in the basement of the building in Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park. A new energy-efficient heating system will be installed in its place.

Two new floors of exhibition space are being added, to allow more of the collection’s 9000 items to go on display.

It was recently announced that the £66m refurbishment is to be boosted by £5m of Scottish Government funding with Glasgow City Council pledging up to 50 per cent of the total cost.
