Mary, Mel & Sue’s Big Christmas Thank You (BBC One, 7pm)
MEL Giedroyc, Sue Perkins and Mary Berry are getting back together to ensure Christmas comes early for an exceptional group of people in South Wales. The trio are visiting an area that has been through some tough times, losing its school and post office, but the locals have pulled together to open a community centre that has provided a lifeline — along with hot meals and weekly bingo — to residents. Now, the centre is also going to be playing host to the most spectacular Christmas party the town has seen, with a dinner prepared by Mary and a gang of helpers.
Child Genius vs Celebrities Christmas Special (Channel 4, 8pm)
ADULTS, thanks to their years of experience and mature minds, are supposed to know far more than youngsters, but anybody who’s ever tried to help a child with their homework will know that that isn’t always the case. Now a team of four brave celebrities are about to pit their wits against the finest young minds in the nation, and you can bet they’ll be pushed to their limits by Rhea, Mog, Christopher and Fabio as they attempt to answer spelling, maths and general knowledge questions. Rob Delaney heads the team, which also features Cathy Newman, Dom Joly and Janet Street-Porter; Richard Osman takes charge.
Michael McIntyre’s Big Christmas Show (BBC One, 8.30pm)
THE comedian brings the latest series of his entertainment showcase to a conclusion with soul singer Seal, Bill Bailey and Alesha Dixon all appearing.
