JAMES Keatings reflected on the highs and lows of the game after scoring a sensational late winner for Hibernian against Falkirk.

The 25-year-old substitute curled a wonderful shot into the top corner in the second minute of injury time to earn Hibs a 2-1 victory at Easter Road and extend their lead at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship to 10 points.

Keatings had set up Efe Ambrose’s headed opener in the 75th minute with a wicked set-piece delivery but then failed to track Craig Sibbald as the Falkirk midfielder headed an equaliser from a corner two minutes later.

Keatings told Hibs TV: “When I got the assist, I got a little bit of confidence and then I went and lose my marker at the corner.

I put my head down and then at the end I managed to grab the winner. It’s a massive result for us but it just shows you what football is like, it’s up and down, up and down.”

Keatings also missed a penalty in the 2-2 draw with Dumbarton the previous weekend. “My confidence took a knock when I missed the penalty,” the former Hearts striker said. “I sat in the car with my dad on the way home and I don’t think I said more than three words. I just said it was probably the worst game I’d played for Hibs.

“This week I’m going home after scoring the winner. It just shows you need to keep your head up and keep believing in yourself and your team-mates.”

Like Falkirk, Morton slipped 10 points behind Hibs after Nat Wedderburn hit the only goal for Dunfermline at Cappielow.

Ayr joined Dumbarton on 31 points after Robbie Crawford hit the winner in a 2-1 victory that lifted them four points above St Mirren.

Raith Rovers and Queen of the South drew 1-1 at Stark’s Park.
