RANGERS signing target Jon Toral has been included in Granada’s squad to take on Real Madrid this weekend.
On-loan Arsenal midfielder Toral has emerged as a key January target of Ibrox boss Mark Warburton, who had the midfielder on loan at Brentford two seasons ago.
But the 21-year-old has insisted he is focused on his team’s visit to the Bernabeu on Saturday. Toral has been named in Granada’s 18-man squad after recovering from a minor injury.
The Spanish midfielder, who spent time at the Barcelona academy before moving to Arsenal, enjoyed a successful loan spell at Birmingham last season, scoring eight goals.
But he has only made six appearances since moving to Granada on loan in August and could be tempted by the prospect of more regular football at Ibrox if Rangers can strike a deal with Arsenal and the player.
Warburton made a creative midfielder his priority for January after losing Niko Kranjcar for the season following a serious knee injury. His midfield options have also been cut by an ongoing calf problem for Jordan Rossiter and by the now departed Joey Barton’s failure to integrate into the squad.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
