WHILE out searching for Pokemon in the Ayrshire area, local residents may have have stumbled across a different creature that they weren't expecting - an ostrich on the loose.

The Scottish SPCA is asking members of the public in Patna to watch out for the great bird, who has been spotted by several members of the public around the area.

Alistair Hill, an animal rescue officer, said: "It is unclear where the ostrich has come from but we think it may also have young with it.

Anyone in the area who spots the ostrich or its young should call us as soon as possible so we can keep an eye on where these birds are."

The animal charity also warned the public not to approach the bird, as they may be carrying young and can be extremely aggressive when protecting them. Instead, the SSPCA have asked you to call their animal helpline on 03000 999 999 if you spot the bird.
