Suzanne McLaughlin serves up a week of delights

1. ONE event I wouldn’t miss for the world this week is the launch night for an album release by the incredible Racecar. The band are showcasing the 11-track album Orange Car at Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms on Tuesday. Racecar are a bloody joyous mix of indie-pop and electro funk and they hail from East Lothian. They recently enjoyed success as their single from the album Better Than You Know was a BBC Scotland Single of the Week. They are an awesome band, follow them on the socials @scubafans_racecar and tickets for the gig can be found on eventbrite by searching “racecar Album Launch + Yoko Pwno, Yellow Helen and Dr Salad (acoustic)”

2 OH I do like to be beside the seaside… Troon is quickly becoming the jewel in the crown of Scotland’s coast with a whole host of stuff to do: a new adventure playground for the kids, mini golf and new cafes and bars. Have yourself a braw day out, fish and chips at the Wee Hurrie and a walk along the beach or a fancy dinner out – this wee town has you covered. The much-loved Lido has shaken off its old clothes and gone for a brand-new look with a spiffing menu for summer. Breakfast bagel or cocktails and cool sounds at the weekend. The lido has you sorted. Follow them on the socials @lido_troon

3 GLASGOW Women’s library has a new exhibition this week that I’m here for in a big way and so should you be! It’s called Making Her Mark and is a vibrant interactive exhibition revealing some of the stories uncovered by Recovery Across Mental Health and Kairos Women+ who participated in the Renfrewshire-based project of the same name. From residents of 19th-century poorhouses to women who were writers and artists, their stories are told here. It’s on from Tuesday and is open to all. It’s also free and accessible. For more information follow the women’s library @womenslibrary on insta and/or head over to www.womenslibrary.org.uk/event/making-her-mark-exhibition-4/
