Black Panthers of WW2 (Yesterday, 8pm)

DAVID Harewood narrates this film about the 761st tank battalion, composed of African-American servicemen, the first US armoured unit of its kind to enter combat. It traces its formation amid segregation and the US high command’s reluctance to commit the battalion to battle. The programme also chronicles their 183 consecutive days of service in combat, and return to America, where they were confronted by angry white mobs. One of the last surviving Blank Panthers – Corporal Robert Andry – is among those offering their thoughts.

Who Do You Think You Are? (BBC1, 9pm)

AFTER Josh Widdecombe’s belting opener, can Oscar-winning actress and doyenne of stage and screen Dame Judi Dench, uncover any bombshells among her past? Judi begins her journey of discovery with her father, Reginald, who remained resolutely silent about his experiences during the First World War. As the programme continues, Judi’s investigations lead her to Denmark and nobility, where, she discovers some incredible Shakespearean links.

Impeachment: American Crime Story (BBC2, 9.15pm)

THE third series in this illuminating US offering explores the sordid twists and turns of the scandal that erupted after President Bill Clinton denied, then finally admitted he had an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. The story begins in January 1998, the year the affair was made public, and Monica is invited to meet Linda Tripp. However, in reality, it’s a trap laid by the FBI, who take her to a hotel suite where she is set to be interviewed by the Office of Special Counsel.

How We Forgot to Save the Planet (C4, 10.15pm)

COMEDIAN Kieran Hodgson writes and presents this irreverent and personal one-off special, a follow-up to his 2019 comedy-documentary, How Europe Stole My Mum, and filmed in Glasgow, the location of next month’s crucial COP26 climate summit. Kieran explores the history of climate change in Britain – and our failure to act on the matter sooner – while an all-star cast, including Morgana Robinson, Simon Bird and Laura Lovemore, guides viewers on a journey to understand what we need to do to fix the planet.
