The A to Z of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, BBC1, 6pm

THINK of Jennifer Saunders and what springs to mind? Comedy, obviously. Probably Dawn French, maybe Adrian Edmondson. But gardening? In fact, she’s apparently a dab hand at horticultural pursuits. Saunders and co-presenter Adam Frost look back at some of the most memorable moments in the event’s history. There’s also a chance to meet some of those taking part this year.

British Academy Television Awards 2018, BBC1, 8pm

THANKS to the fact that the overwhelming number of nominees are British, the UK does at least have a chance of triumphing here. Despite his recent problems, Ant McPartlin (and his mate Declan Donnelly) are the favourites to win Best Entertainment Programme for Saturday Night Takeaway. The Crown is expected to do well in the Drama Series category but faces stiff competition.

Midsomer Murders, STV, 8pm

THE crime drama returns, with Barnaby and Winter joined on the year’s first case by a new pathologist, Petra Antonescu (Anamaria Marinca). A woman slips away from a Jane Austen re-enactment and is stabbed to death in the woods. She turns out to be an undercover journalist, who had some unusual questions to ask about the village and the country house where the historical event took place.

Neanderthals: Meet Your Ancestors, BBC2, 8pm

A GROUP of experts to creates a scientifically accurate 3D working avatar of a Neanderthal. He is then put among commuters on a busy tube train to see how well he would blend into our world.
