Kier Construction Scotland have been appointed to take forward a £9.7 million redevelopment project of the Wolfson building for the University of Strathclyde.

This forms part of the whopping £15.5m that has been invested into the Wolfson Building to establish it as the centre of Strathclyde’s UK-leading Department of Biomedical Engineering.

The building is set to be completed by 2020 and will provide new facilities, including research and teaching laboratories, increased office accommodation for staff and students and new social spaces.

Brian McQuade, managing director for Kier Construction Scotland, said: “Kier has a leading reputation of delivering first-class facilities across the higher education sector. We are looking forward to working closely with the university’s team, supporting the local community as we create important employment and educational opportunities throughout the project, and providing excellent new facilities for the students and staff to enjoy.”

Kier Construction Scotland is also involved in the completion of a £14m redevelopment of Edinburgh College of Art and a £7.7m redevelopment of Murchison House, both for the University of Edinburgh.

Kier has recently completed work at the University of Aberdeen, Abertay University, Robert Gordon University and the University of the West of Scotland.
