A NUMBER of Scottish businesses have come together to raise more than £400,000 for a national children’s charity.

Children 1st have been awarded £403,811 thanks to the fundraising of 28 Scottish organisations that have been taking part in Dragons’ Glen since 2012. The 2017/18 challenge raised £45,434.

Dragons’ Glen is Scotland’s entrepreneurial challenge for businesses in which candidates pitch an idea and in return receive mentoring and a £500 investment. Candidates then have five months to turn the investment into £5000 to help support vulnerable children.

Mentoring is provided by Scottish business leaders such as Ruth Chandler of Skyscanner and Rob Letham of the People’s Postcode Lottery.

A team of employees from People’s Postcode Lottery won the competition by raising £11,534.07. Their recipe book “25 Ways to Fake It” provided a healthier spin on takeaway favourites.
