MOUSSA Dembele will step up to the mark if Celtic get a penalty against Kilmarnock today and give no thought to his miss at the Nou Camp.

The 20-year-old French striker, who went into the game having scored a hat-trick in the 5-1 trouncing of Old Firm rivals Rangers, had the chance to level from the spot against Barcelona in the opening Champions League Group C match when the Hoops trailed 1-0.

Dembele won the penalty when he was brought down by Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but his shot was saved by the Barca goalkeeper and the Spanish giants went on to win 7-0.

The former Fulham forward, however, will not shy away if he gets a chance from the spot against Killie.

“Yes, I will take the next one,” he said. “Sometimes you score, sometimes you miss.

“When you miss a penalty you just have to think about scoring the next one and forget about the last one. It has happened to everyone.”

Dembele has led the line for the Hoops in the past four games with Leigh Griffiths out injured.

The Scotland striker returns to the squad this weekend and Dembele believes they can play in a partnership, saying “for me to play alongside him would be a good thing and we have done it already”.

Their opponents Kilmarnock will be without Steven Smith for three to four weeks as he requires ankle surgery. Greg Taylor returns from suspension but Greg Kiltie, Miles Addison, Callum McFadzean and Dapo Kayode are all out.
