NEIL Lennon labelled Hibernian’s performance at home to Falkirk on Saturday as not good enough, even though the 1-1 draw sent the Easter Road side a point clear of Dundee United at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship.
The Leith men had Paul Hanlon to thank for denying 10-man Falkirk victory. The defender headed home with seven minutes left to cancel out John Baird’s opener moments before.
Falkirk had former Hibs man Tom Taiwo sent off midway through the first half after a crunching tackle on John McGinn but did enough to frustrate Hibs and earn a point that keeps them in fifth place.
Lennon said: “I never thought we’d lose the game today, but thankfully we managed to dig out a point. That might be important going forward, but the players have to look at it and think ‘where can we do better?’.
“They lacked creativity at times, took too many touches and our final ball in areas wasn’t good enough.
“We had a lot of shots on goal. Danny Rogers made some great saves towards the end, but there weren’t enough quality chances from my point of view.”
In the only other Championship fixture, Morton moved up to third place with a 2-0 win over Dumbarton. Mark Russell broke the deadlock with 20 minutes left when he buried a clinical strike from 18 yards. Kudus Oyenuga added a secondwhen he rolled home into the bottom corner to seal the Greenock side’s fifth win in six league games.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
