RANGERS boss Mark Warburton says he has a squad that has proved it can be trusted as he readies himself for his side’s first game back in the Ladbrokes Premiership .

The Gers host Hamilton at Ibrox today, four years after their last top-flight appearance. after the financial meltdown that saw the club have to rebuild from Scotland’s bottom tier.

Warburton’s men securied a top-flight spot as runaway champions last season.

All eyes are now on whether they return straight into the thick of a title battle with Celtic after Warburton strengthened his squad over the summer with the likes of Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar.

The former Brentford boss is still looking for recruits but is happy with the players he has at his disposal.

“People talk about the problems of squad selection but you have to have a squad you can trust, and whether we play with Joey Barton or Andy Halliday or Jordan Rossiter or Jason Holt or Niko Kranjcar or Harry Forrester or Josh Windass – whoever we play in midfield, I’m not concerned.

"We trust their ability and they’ve already shown that in the pre-season games,” he said.

“It’s nice to have that selection problem, and in the game tomorrow we will use all members of the squad.

“I’m very satisfied with what we have got.”

Warburton has added nine new faces in total over the summer and is not desperate to move into double figures. “If one or two players become available that add value to what we currently have and add something we don’t currently possess, then we will move “ he added.

“We know we can move if those players become available – the problem is that it’s an ever-reducing talent pool, and everyone’s fishing in the same pool.

“Right now, with the squad I have no problems.”
