I was Livingston manager when we beat Hibs at Hampden back in 2004 in the League Cup final.
Scott Brown played in that game and I remember that he was impetuous and ill-disciplined. It was clear that he had some talent but there was no discipline to his game at all.
Slowly but surely that has come into his game and I have to say that he will go down as one of the most celebrated and decorated Celtic captains that have led the club.

People talk about his leadership qualities both off and on the park and that is key to the level of performance that he has produced in the last two years but you don’t spent a decade at Celtic without ability.

He has improved his game immeasurably and has also taken on board the changes that he needed to make. And now, at this stage of his career, he looks fitter and stronger than at any other stage of his playing days.
He deserves the accolades and plethora of individual awards that have come his way this term but I am sure he will look to sign off now with the biggest one of all.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
