MARTIN Canning expects to face a fired-up Hearts at the Superseal Stadium this weekend.
Canning’s Hamilton host Craig Levein’s side in just his second game in charge at Hearts after he took over from caretaker head coach Jon Daly two weeks ago.
The Jambos managed a goalless draw in Levein’s Premiership return against Aberdeen on Saturday, and Canning anticipates facing a side with a lot to prove.
He said: “I watched them on Saturday – which will be the judge for us given it was Levein’s first game – and they were good.
“They felt their way into the game and were probably the better team for the last hour. We know it will be a difficult game.
“Craig with his experience will galvanise the team pretty quickly, get them doing what he wants them to do and it will be a difficult game for us. But it is one we know we can compete in if we are at it and everyone works as hard as they have been.
He added: “They will all be eager to impress a new manager, especially someone with Craig’s stature. All the players will want to be in the team so from the start I would imagine they will be right at it.
“It will be difficult but it’s one I believe we can take something from.”
