RUPERT Murdoch made a series musings on UK politics yesterday, commenting that Scottish independence was looking “inevitable”.

The billionaire media mogul took to social media to give his opinions about the General Election campaign, predicting David Cameron would be ousted and the SNP would hold the balance of power in a hung parliament.

In one post, the Australia press baron wrote on Twitter: “Scots may be crazy or not wanting self rule, but who can deny right of self determination? Feels inevitable over next few years.”

He also took a swipe at Cameron, saying he was “likely to face the chop” if the Tories failed to secure a majority against Labour on polling day next week.

Pointing out the predictions that suggested a hung parliament, Murdoch wrote: “UK. Likely approximate outcome, far from certain – Con 294 seats, Lab 265, SNP 48, LD. 25, odds 18. Everything still to fight for!”

He also tweeted: “UK. Failure to win majority against either Brown in crisis or Miliband would mean chop for Cameron. Open talk today in party and press.”

Murdoch then replied to Twitter users saying he had predicted too many Tory seats.

He responded: “Tweet responses interesting. Maybe I guessed 10 too many Cons, but either way Scots probably will hold the balance.”

The News Corp boss has made no secret of his dislike of Labour leader Ed Miliband.
