THE National roadshow is heading for Penicuik in Midlothian tomorrow and we’re urging readers and supporters to come along and join us.

See and hear our ever-popular columnist the Wee Ginger Dug live and chat to our editor Callum Baird at the event in Penicuik Town Hall in the High Street from 7pm.

Our reporter Martin Hannan will be on hand for readers to share their stories and give them a chance to have their say on issues that matter to them.

Many of you already enjoy the Wee Ginger Dug articles in The National but this is a chance to hear writer Paul Kavanagh share his thoughts on the current political situation, so be prepared to laugh as well as cry.

Paul will be joined by Callum, who is happy to talk to readers about the paper’s philosophy and ambitions for 2017.

The event is being organised by the SNP Penicuik branch. There will also be the opportunity to buy National subscriptions (either a hard copy of the paper or digital) and our fantastic array of merchandise.

The next location in our second anniversary roadshow trip will be Paisley on Friday, February 3, when readers will get the chance to hear Mhairi Black, the UK’s youngest MP in conversation with The National’s consultant editor Richard Walker. See the map below for other dates.

The National:

The pair will discuss independence, Brexit, social justice and more, with an opportunity for the audience to put their questions to Paisley-born 22-year-old.

Tickets are now on sale for The National Roadshow event, costing only £4 each to cover the cost of the venue.

Tickets are selling fast so make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to get an insight into what makes the Paisley and Renfrewshire South MP tick.

Mhairi said: “When I first heard that The National were going on tour I was eager to get them to visit Paisley. Indeed a few people asked me to make sure that they came along!

"It is an extremely exciting time in the history of Paisley, with the bid for City of Culture 2021 ongoing, and I’m so excited that The National are able to come along and witness everything that is going on.”

The event, which kicks off at 7.30pm, is being held in the Paisley Arts Centre, where playwright and actor David Hayman and singer Horse McDonald are among acts set to perform in the coming weeks, while Hollywood star James McAvoy learned his trade there as a member of local youth drama company Pace.

The centre was originally built as Paisley’s first post-Reformation church and it was a place of worship for nearly 250 years until it was converted for entertainment use in 1987.

Richard said: “The Paisley roadshow evening event is not to be missed. It is going to be fantastic and Mhairi is very much the focus of it.

“We are going to take questions from the audience and ask readers to submit questions to be asked on the night.”

On February 19 the roadshow heads to the Yes2 rally convoy in Ellon; on March 7, Dundee and Broughty Ferry; on March 15, Edinburgh; on March 22, Dumfries and Lockerbie, and then Fort William on April 7.
