TWO whisky casks were given a royal seal as the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited a new distillery.

Charles and Camilla, who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, were invited to fit the bungs to the casks on a tour of the Ballindalloch Distillery in Aberdeenshire.

The couple met construction workers and talked to staff. They then formally opened the site, which began production in September, by unveiling a plaque.

Guy Macpherson-Grant, whose family own the distillery, said: “I think it’s a tremendous honour that the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay made time to come here.”
