Judges have thrown out a bid by lying Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael for expenses over the so-called Frenchgate case.

His lawyers were at the Court of Session this morning pursuing costs against the Orkney Four who took Carmichael to court over his leaking and lying about a memo that sought to damage First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

However, after a brief adjournment following presentations by Roddy Dunlop QC for the MP and Jonathan Mitchell QC for the petitioners, Lady Paton said no expenses would be awarded to either party.

One of the four Tim Morrison who was not in court, told The National: "That's fantastic news. I'm over the moon."
