FLOOD warnings have been issued for parts of the Highlands and Moray ahead of forecasts for heavy rain.

Easter Ross and the Great Glen as well as the Nairn, Findhorn and Speyside catchment areas are all subject to a flood alert from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa).

In a statement, a spokesperson for Sepa said that while most areas will be unaffected by the downpour, anyone caught in “isolated heavy showers” is at risk of flash flooding.

They added: "This alert is for potential flooding from surface water. Isolated heavy showers on Sunday afternoon will give a risk of localised flooding in some areas.

"Most areas will be unaffected, but in the areas of the most intense rainfall there could be disruption to travel and some flooding of urban areas.”

"Remain vigilant. Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188.”
