SEAN Clerkin has been arrested following a protest at Edinburgh Airport.

Police raided the activits house at 7.30am on Friday morning.

Last month, Clerkin staged a protest at the capital's airport, where he unfurled a sign reading "England Get Out of Scotland" close to the terminal.

Police charged Clerkin with breach of the peace, displaying an offensive banner and with displaying a banner without permission on Edinburgh Airport property.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A 59-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident at Edinburgh Airport on Thursday, 20 August, 2020.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Clerkin said he would defend himself vigorously.

"This is a breach to my human rights to protest, and a breach of my right to freedom of speech."
