YES DIY groups across the country are lining up a whole host of activities for St Andrew’s Day on Friday. We here at the Hub are delighted to help publicise these events which an event which may soon will be celebrated as an Independence Day.
In no particular order of importance, let’s start with Yes Linton’s first St Andrews night ceilidh on Friday from 7pm in the Graham Institute, West Linton.
The Matt Seattle Ceilidh Band will be providing the tunes, it’s a BYOB event and Jordan from the Pyet Deli will be serving up the stovies. Tickets are £12.50 – or £5 for children and Young Scot card holders. They are are available from Glenda at Rumbling’ Tams in West Linton, online via Eventbrite.co.uk or just turn up at the door. SNP Edinburgh Southern are also having a St Andrew’s Night ceilidh from 7pm at Columcille Centre, Newbattle Terrace, next to the Dominion Cinema. Tickets are priced £12 include with stovies (veggie option available) included and it’s BYOB. Tickets available on Eventbrite.
Blyth Hall in Newport-on-Tay will host the SNP Tay Bridgehead Branch’s St Andrew’s night ceilidh from 7.30pm to midnight with music from Scott Band and his Scottish Dance Band. Lesley Riddoch presents her two short films on Norway and the Faroes at 7pm on Friday at The Waterside Hotel, Peterhead. The evening is hosted by #ScotRef Peterhead and tickets are £5 with tea, coffee and biscuits included. Tickets from Eventbrite. www.tinyurl.com/Ellon-nation.
SNP Edinburgh Central Branch are holding a members event at the Life Care Centre, 2 Cheyne Street, Stockbridge at 7.30pm on Friday. This is a social event with a chance to pick up information and chat with like-minded people. Free tea and coffee and BYOB.
Broughty Ferry SNP are holding a St Andrew’s night party in Broughty Castle Bowling Club, King Street on Friday from 7.30pm-11pm. Hosted by Shona Robison MSP, with Scottish songs and tunes by RanDan. Free entry, tickets from Eventbrite.
Yes Musselburgh will host an evening of St Andrew’s Day jacobite songs and stories with local musicians Crochallan (John Greig and Stuart McHardy). It’s at the Hollies, 183 High Street, Musselburgh. Tickets are priced £5 and can be booked by calling or texting 07899 828194.
Highland AMAL branch of the CWU are hosting a St Andrew’s Day talk on Brexit, Independence and Workers’ Rights at the Thistle Inn, Celt Street, Inverness from 5-7pm. Speakers include Drew Hendry (SNP) and Colin Fox (SSP).
