YESTERDAY saw the women in Glasgow striking for the equal pay they should have been paid as long ago as 1971 (Equal Pay Act).

Labour’s Barbara Castle delivered that policy.

It great that current Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has joined the fray. What’s not so good are the attacks on an SNP administration, barely a year old, which is trying to raise the necessary funds to pay the women.

I just wonder if Corbyn will support the sell-off of public assets and the job losses that seem the only way to raise such funds as quickly as is being demanded.

Council leader Susan Aitken was set on avoiding a fire sale and staff reduction. Pity she’s not been given a fifth of the time that Labour kept the issue in legal wrangling.

I wait, with bated breath, on Labour and the GMB union proving their credibility with supporting such action in North Lanarkshire.
