TOP Edinburgh chef Mark Greenaway has hinted that he could consider opening a restaurant in Aberdeen.

Greenway, who closed his award-winning restaurant in the capital’s North Castle Street last week and is working on a new venture, is returning to the Granite City for a 12-day fine-dining festival in November.

“We did look at opening a restaurant in Aberdeen a few years ago but decided not to progress it at that time for a number of factors,” he said. “I have family who live in Aberdeen and I really enjoy the city, so this may be a good opportunity to test the water again,” he said.

Signature at The Chester Hotel will see Greenaway and other leading UK chefs, including Martin Wishart, Jeff Bland, Glynn Purnell, Roy Brett and Atul Kochhar, cooking up a storm with produce from Aberdeenshire’s larder.

Proceeds from Signature, which runs from November 4-16, will be donated to the neonatal unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Details at www.signaturefoodfestival.co.uk.
