So, are Dundee as bad as the results suggest?
There is something missing from this team but please don’t take my word for it, read what Paul McGowan thinks. And this is the edited and cleaned up version.
“I’m honestly sick of saying the same things over and over. ‘It’ll come. This and that.’ We’re ******* weak minded as a team.
“We played good football in the first half, Hibs rarely threatened us. We looked very good, passing the ball. The goal ****** kills us. And that’s just the mentality that we’ve got just now.
“When we go a goal down, we ******* crumble. That’s basically it. We crumble. Six games in. A couple of wins and we’re back up. But I’m just sick repeating the same ***** over and over. I honestly am.
“I’m banging my head off a brick wall. I’ve not been good enough. And none of the players in there have been good enough. Nobody in that team has done themselves justice this season. And I include myself.
“I’m hammering myself and I’m hammering everybody. We’ve not done anything for the club, we’ve not done anything for the manager. We’ve let the fans down. And more importantly we’ve let ourselves down.”
Does Neil McCann have long left to turn things around?
Dundee are at Hamilton this Saturday and should they lose for a seventh straight game, it would be difficult to see the manager staying on.
There weren’t even boos at the end, just a few shrugs and folk walked off. And Dundee fans are known for their passion.
If McCann is moved on, then it would be interesting to see whether the legendary JIm Duffy is asked to take over.
But McGowan is right. It’s too easy to point fingers at the man on the touchline. The players have been poor?
Hibs are looking good again
They sure are. After half an hour they were superb. The 4-3-3 suits them and in Mark Milligan have a serious player. The veteran midfielder enjoyed a superb debut.
He sat deep and controlled the game. Exactly what Hibs needed.
Are they a top four side?
Absolutely. They will always score, have options on the bench and Neil Lennon is getting brilliance from Martin Boyle, excellent at Dens, and he will have an eye second place. Or more...
And how was Efe?
There is a PHD to be written about Efe Ambrose. He was superb here, with some hair-raising moments.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
