TORY MP Bill Grant has admitted to having a snooze in the chamber of the House of Commons.

While most workers would get their jotters for falling asleep on the job, Grant, the MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock said his “wee nap” during housing questions on July 23 was because he had a long day.

Grant told the Cumnock Chronicle: “I got up in Ayr at 5.15am, boarded the 6.10am X77 to Glasgow and flew – on the cheapest route – to London.”

He added that he’d fallen asleep around 4pm, and that he was going to be in chamber until 10pm.

“Did I have a wee nap? Yes I did, guilty as charged.”

It’s not the first time, the dozy Tory MP has been caught catching some shut eye in the Commons. He was pictured in December 2017, fast asleep during a debate on pensions equality for women.
