It's not every day a politician ends up on the front page of most newspapers for their frankly appalling comments... but then again, it's not often an SNP MSP who says them.
Most of Scotland's press ran with the news of Gillian Martin being selected for a ministerial position, only to have it withdrawn after shocking rascist and transphobic comments emerged from her old blog.
The Scottish Daily Mail leads with the headline "Minister for just 24 hours".
Nothing Martin wrote was that far off from a Daily Mail column though, so it's hard to take their position seriously.
The i has gone with "Sacked before she had even started".
And the Scotsman leads with "Sturgeon under fire as she axes minister after a day". That's a return of the "axe" to the headline right there.
Next up, The Times Scotland do give the Martin story space on the front cover, but lead with May's claim that the EU is putting lives at risk over Brexit.
Call me a cynic, but it looks a lot like May might be blaming someone else for her own government's incomptence...
The Herald leads with the shocking revelation that large sections of the Glasgow School of Art will need to be torn down following the major blaze that gutted the landmark.
And finally, The National leads with news about how much Trump's visit will cost Scotland... even if we don't want him here. Read about it now.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
