SECTIONS of the gutted Mackintosh School of Art are ready to collapse at a moment's notice, according to Glasgow City Council.

A sudden collapse is now regarded as "likely rather than possible" after a close-up survey of the building revealed more substantial movement in the walls than previously thought.

The work to dismantle sections of the famous structure is expected to begin shortly "as a matter of urgency".

A major fire destroyed the interior of the beloved landmark recently, with questions remaining over whether or not it can be saved.

More to follow.
