What have Scotland's press led with on the front cover today?
First up, the Scottish Daily Express.
The Express leads with news that baby boomers will need to keep working beyond the retirement age. Maybe it's just me, but if the majority of them stopped voting for the party that has brought that about, that might help them.
Shout out to the baby boomers who don't vote Tory.
The Express has also managed to include two of its usual topics this morning; the royal family and a dodgy health claim.
The Daily Record has led with shocking statistics on homelessness in Scotland.
They say that new statistics show that one Scottish household lost their place to live every 18 minutes last year.
The Scotsman has splashed on news that medicinal cannabis could be legalised.
Why is it that the UK Government only ever seem to get moving when a child in pain, or who dies, hits the headlines?
I'll be marking them down as "must show more initiative" in their school report card.
The i is making the case for developing a taste for wine this summer.
At least... I hope the wine won't be affected. Please. Not the wine.
The i also has a piece about the US seperating children from their parents at camps. It's worth noting that only people acting like the Nazis have ever had to release a statement to clarify "we are not like the Nazis".
The Herald continues its coverage of Brexit.
And The National leads with news of a poll showing that Leave voters would pick leaving the EU over keeping Scotland in the UK.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
