AN upcoming graphic novel anthology seeks to tell the tales of pioneering political women over the last 100 years - including those of Nicola Sturgeon and Mhairi Black.
We Shall Fight Until We Win, published by 404 Ink, will celebrate the centenary of the first women gaining the right to vote in the UK. The book is a collection of short graphic stories that touch on the lives of the women who shaped our political history, from Emmeline Pankhurst to the Glasgow Girls.
The novel features work from Denise Mina, Hannah Berry and Siana Bangura, and dedicates a section to those women who were initially excluded from getting the vote.
Across the nineteen stories that appear in the anthology, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s journey to being labelled the “most dangerous woman in Britain” is chronicled, as is Mhairi Black’s move from Paisley to Westminster.
The anthology was funded by Kickstarter earlier in the year after gaining support from figures such as Margaret Atwood.
Heather McDaid from 404 Ink said “We're very proud of the collection - it's a really beautiful anthology - and how it tells some well-known stories, some less so, all worthy of note.”
The anthology will be co-published with BHP Comics, and is available on the 14th June.
