ONE of Scotland’s busiest shopping centres has backed a drive recognising “invisible” disabilities.

St Enoch Centre is the latest location to install inclusive signage designed by Grace Warnock, appearing on its accessible toilets.

The 13-year-old, from Prestonpans in East Lothian, was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at the age of nine, and came up with the design after she was criticised for using disabled toilets.

“Grace’s sign” is now on

the doors of hundreds of accessible toilets in Scotland, including at Holyrood.

The sign shows two people, each featuring a heart, with a wheelchair in the middle, reminding people not to judge that which cannot be seen.

Anne Ledgerwood, general manager of St Enoch Centre, said: “Grace’s innovative campaign is helping to improve life for people with disabilities across Scotland and raising awareness that not all disabilities can be seen. Her clever signage will ensure that St Enoch Centre is accessible to all shoppers.”
