STUDENTS at the University of the West of Scotland’s (UWS) new £110 million campus in Lanarkshire are in for a high-tech treat in their learning spaces, after an innovative furniture specialist won the contract for the work.

Alpha Scotland – part of the Belfast-based Alpha Group – will kit out learning areas at the state-of-the-art facility at Hamilton International Park, which will open in September. The campus has been designed to encourage new ways of working and Alpha will provide inventive furniture across library, learning and break-out spaces.

Julie Carson of Alpha Scotland said: “Education is an area in which we do a great deal of work and we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring our expertise to such an exciting new development. The importance of surroundings, particularly, when it comes to learning, cannot be underestimated.”

Graham Black, the UWS project director added: “We are always looking for ways to enhance the learning experience of our students.”
