The National:

The Royal Wedding will NOT be coming to a big screen near you - at least not in Scotland.

It seems that Scotland's chronic lack of interest in seeing two wealthy strangers tie the knot has been noted by BBC bosses.

They do get something right every now and then, I suppose.

Unavoidable patriotism will spill into public spaces in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in the form of giant TV screens broadcasting the big day. However, there will be no giant screens set up in Scotland.

Instead, Scots who wish to see the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have to watch it from the comfort of their Union-flag bedecked living rooms.

But why?

The BBC's head of content Charlotte Moore said the coverage would "“bring the nation together"... so we assume she's either forgotten Scotland is still part of it, or has just accepted that we won't be for much longer.

Or maybe they realised that most of Scotland wasn't interested after just ONE official street party was registered in the entire country.

On an unrelated note, you might want to avoid Elgin on the 20th of May.

Naturally, Tory MSP Murdo "Queen's 11" Fraser, was outraged by the decision.

He stated "“It is very disappointing that the BBC seem to have forgotten about Scotland when they were planning these big screen events."

We haven't yet seen a Tory motion in the Scottish Parliament to make watching the Royal Wedding mandatory "Clockwork Orange" style - but there's still plenty of time for that.
