TORY MSP Miles Briggs has been accused of misogyny after sending a "patronising" tweet about SNP MP Joanna Cherry.

Cherry was commenting on Briggs' alleged attempt to "willfully mislead" people on the baby box when he raised questions over the safety of the box during First Minister's Questions yesterday.

Nicola Sturgeon's response to Briggs' question was watched over 40,000 times after it went viral.

Cherry took to Twitter to discuss the exchange before Briggs sent the message that was later descibed as patronising with "a hint of misogyny" by MSP Maree Todd.

He stated "Poor Miss Cherry and her constant ramblings...she's to be pitied, not hated..."

The tweet, which was liked by Tory MSP Murdo Fraser, racked up over 180 replies as Twitter users criticised the MSP's tone.

Tory councillor Nick Cook also said that he "couldn't agree more".

Many commenters claimed that Briggs' was acting out as he was still "sore" about FMQs the day before.

Cherry also responded to the tweet, asking Briggs "You ok honey? Still upset you got beaten by a girl? Twice."
