DOUGLAS Ross, the referee who occasionally works as the MP for Moray, topped up his £77k a year salary with an extra £2k in February and March According to the latest register of interests, Ross made £2,168 from running the line at six matches.

Though not all games paid the same. While he made big bucks at the Old Firm derby last month, earning £425, he only took home £83 for a Peterhead v Annan Athletic match in February.

He also earned £425 for Dundee v Motherwell, Hamilton Accies v Rangers, Ross County v Hamilton Accies, and £385 for Aberdeen v Kilmarnock.

Ross caused controversy at the Old Firm match after being caught on camera screaming for referee Willie Collum to red card Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic for an elbow on Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

Other MPs to register updates included Ross Thomson, who declared that his gaffe filled trip to Iraq, where he made off colour jokes about Saddam Hussein, cost the government of Iraq £3,250.

Thomson posted pictures and joked about channelling his "inner dictator" during a trip to Hussein's infamous military parade ground in Baghdad.

Diane Douglas, from Aberdeen, who lost her son Lance Corporal Allan Douglas when he was shot and killed in January 2006, called for the MP to lose his seat in parliament over his actions.

Pictures posted on a private Facebook group and obtained by The Herald show the MP pretending to hold the notorious Victory Arch - a symbol of Saddam's brutal rule - in his hands as well as smiling while sitting on the dictator's throne.

Alongside a smiling emoji wearing sunglasses, Thomson wrote: "Another terrific day in Iraq.

"I was able to channel my inner dictator with a visit to Sadam's [sic] military parade ground The Swords of Qadisiyah (Victory Arch) and then sitting on Saddam's throne at the British embassy."

Thomson later said he did not intend to cause offence with the post.
