The SNP's leader in Westminster Ian Blackford has called on two Scottish Labour MPs to withdraw their tweets and apologise to Mhairi Black after they attacked her for missing work through a serious illness.

Ian Murray and Paul Sweeney had both criticised the voting record of Black on Twitter – despite the fact that Scotland's youngest MP had legitimate reasons for not attending Parliamentary votes.

"Will @PaulJSweeney be big enough to delete the tweet and issue an apology. His behaviour is way below the standard expected," Blackford said.

Of Murray, he also tweeted: "I am surprised at Ian’s tweet, I have respect for him but this has crossed a line. You do not have a go at someone who was off work with illness. I am sure Ian will be big enough to withdraw the tweet."

But Mhairi Black didn't need her boss to step in though. Earlier, she hit back at both MPs, explaining the reasons for her absence as she slammed them for "bullying in the workplace".
