RISING SCOTTISH collective Dante exclusively premiere their new single Sermons with The National online today.
Out on Monday February 26, the driving indie-rock track is the final single to be taken from their forthcoming album I Wear Your Weight With Mine, which is out on March 9 via Edinburgh indie label Stitch Records.
Frontman Sean McLaughlin says the single, which was produced, like the full album by Frightened Rabbit's Andy Monaghan and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana’s Nevermind amongst many others), is "about not taking yourself too seriously."
McLaughlin, who is based in Kinnesswood, a village east of Loch Leven in Perth and Kinross, continues: "A mistake artists can make is they get too wrapped up in their own work, which they take very, very seriously, and they forget that can annoy people. Hopefully the self-deprecating element comes through - there's a few coemdy lines in there."

Dante have just been announced as playing the HebCelt Festival in July, as well as the Shetland Folk Festival in May.
Before that, they play Sneaky Pete's in Edinburgh tomorrow with Nieves, a free gig at Perth Twa Tams on April 20 and a support slot with Broken Records the following day at Dundee's Church.
Inspired by the relationships we build over the course of our lives, I Wear Your Weight With Mine is focused on what the band feel is important in life as we grow older.
“It is a hugely positive album," says McLaughlin. "How positive it is to have strong ties to other people, but how much of a responsibility this can feel at times. It’s about connection, when disconnection seems like an easier option.”
Hear more about the album, which features artwork by former Arcade Fire artist-in-residence Tracy Maurice an accompanying collection of short stories written by Stephen Thom, in The National's full interview with McLaughlin on Wednesday February 28.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
