SOME of the country's most talented artists are coming together to raise money for Scottish film director Moe Abutoq, who has multiple sclerosis.

Abutoq, 31, was diagnosed with the condition two years ago. He hopes to have specialist stem cell treatment in Mexico.

Actress, performer and singer-songwriter, Frances Thorburn, is leading the campaign by Scottish artists to help raise the £60,000 required for the treatment.

On Thursday, February 8, she and a host of other performers will appear in A Celebration of Songs fundraiser at St Luke’s in Glasgow.

Thorburn said: “Moe is an extremely talented guy and while on set I could see him getting more shaky on his feet.

“I was aware that Moe’s family and friends were raising money for him to travel to Mexico but if you add up all the costs, travel, treatment, accommodation and after care the financial support needed is astronomical – hence the reason I’m putting on the gig.”
