KEZIA Dugdale has been mocked by Twitter users for demanding Nicola Sturgeon get on with the day job – despite the former Scottish Labour leader spending three weeks in the Australian jungle for a reality TV show.
The First Minister took to Twitter this morning to refute claims made by three mainstream newspapers that she had ordered the Union Flag to be flown on Government buildings less often.
Suggesting Sturgeon should be spending more time dealing with travel issues resulting from high winds and flooding, Dugdale sent out an angry Tweet.
She wrote: "Who is going to tell the First Minister to get off Twitter and help [Transport Minister] Humza [Yousaf] with the trains this morning?"

Having put her work as an MSP on hold in order to appear on I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here, Twitter users were quick to point out the hypocrisy.

Took weeks off her day job to go sunbathe outside a 5star hotel drinking cocktails and was paid 70 grand for the privilege. Sources report she helped no trains in any morning during this period. https://t.co/eXVgOthAcN

"Let she who buggers off to the jungle and ignores her constituents for two weeks cast the first stone", eh Kez?

Seriously, @kezdugdale? This is what you've come to? Why don't you get off twitter and save your reputation amongst those of us who were giving you the benefit of the doubt?

I have a lot of respect for our first minister. I am surprised that Nicola is a God and can prevent bad weather thus protecting trains from adverse weather conditions.

My train was fine, but then Humza was driving it himself.

Do you not think the fact that three right wing newspapers have just smeared her with a fabricated story entitles her to make a response?

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
