KRIS COMMONS is unlikely ever to forget his introduction to the Scottish Cup.

Over two incredible games there were fights, red cards, stand-offs, some football every now and then and Commons scored his first, but not last, goal against Rangers.

Indeed, the fall-out from the replay, which Celtic won 1-0, lasted for months as politicians decided to get involved after two middle aged men had a three-second argument.

Commons recalled: "I made my Scottish Cup debut in a 2-2 draw at Ibrox.

"It was also my Old Firm debut, but it was a case of mixed fortunes for me because I scored to make it 1-1 but then I was subbed after 37 minutes after Fraser Forster was sent off.

“But the way we went on to dominate the game after that with 10 men was testament to the boys and the team spirit we had at that time.

“What I remember was a real commotion among the Rangers fans and players because we were a man down but we still had all the possession and we created the better chances.

"And, obviously, that was the day the infamous Scott Brown celebration was born, after he’d scored the equaliser."

That match was eventful enough but nothing compared to what happened a few days later.

Commons said:m "The replay was a night game – the only Old Firm game I ever played in at night – and Mark Wilson scored the only goal.

"There were a few commotions in that one as well.

“Four players sent off – three from Rangers – and then you had Ally McCoist and Neil Lennon; yeah, welcome to Glasgow!

“It was strange for me because I’d never seen it all kick off at the end like that before. Ally and Lenny came together and it looked quite normal but whatever was said to spark it off has been kept between them.

"Whatever it was, it didn’t take a great deal of time; they must have been straight to the point."
