IT was an important debate about leaving the EU - but it might have been a bit much for Tory MP Desmond Swayne.

Swayne appears to have dozed off during the report stage of the EU Withdrawal Bill which returned to the House of Commons today.

Desmond Swayne is the MP for New Forest West in Hampshire and campaigned to leave the EU during the referendum.

In the video shared by BBC Radio 4 journalist Kristiina Cooper, Swayne looks like he's enjoying a nap during Ken Clarke's speech on the Charter of Fundamental Rights, before suddenly waking with a start.

The debate around the UK's plans to leave the EU took on a different tone today after European Council president Donald Tusk said it wasn't too late for the UK to change its mind.

It doesn't look like Swayne is that bothered though...
