SCOTLAND’S top makeup college will create 50 new jobs as it seeks to expand in the UK, thanks to a six-figure investment.

Edinburgh-based Glamcandy, headquartered in William Street, has partnered with Julian Kynaston — the man behind the cult Illamasqua make up range.

Kynaston’s six-figure investment of an unknown amount will be used to expand Glamcandy’s range of makeup courses, training prospective makeup artists.

Kynaston believes the project can make Glamcandy the “go-to makeup college brand in the UK”.

Bosses at the Edinburgh firm — who also operate courses from their college in Dunfermline and locations in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness — say they are now taking on new staff as they set up across the UK.

Hayley Harvey Smith, director of Glamcandy, said: “This investment is a huge boost to Glamcandy and represents a massive vote of confidence in what we have built here.”
