MILLIONS of people are expected to descend on Scotland’s first national park – without even leaving their homes.

Panoramic footage of off-road walks through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park has been posted on Google Maps. It took staff a fortnight to traverse walkways around Balloch and beyond wearing a 20kg backpack bearing recording equipment. It is hoped that the result will attract more people to the park and help others plan their visits.

Google said the results join an online database of “some of the most beautiful places in the world”. Filming of further routes is now in the pipeline. Simon Jones, director of conservation and visitor operations at Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, said: “Having these paths available to view on Google Maps will allow millions of people across the world to experience the amazing landscapes and scenery the park has to offer.”
