GLASGOW City made it 21 wins from 23 games and ended the season undefeated when they beat Aberdeen 3-0 away. There were also victories for Hibernian, Celtic and Hamilton Accies.

With their record 11th successive title already in the bag, City were given a guard of honour by the Aberdeen players as they came out on to the pitch. The visitors rested some key personnel ahead of Sunday’s SSE Scottish Women’s Cup final against Hibs – but still went ahead after just five minutes, Noelle Murray getting the goal.

City captain Leanne Ross hit the bar with a penalty after 10 minutes, and there was no further scoring before half-time. However, Ross made no mistake with a second spot-kick after the interval before defender Keeva Keenan headed in City’s third 12 minutes from time.

Although two of City’s Irish players got their names on the score sheet there was no goal in her last game for Katie McCabe. The Republic of Ireland captain, who joined on loan from Arsenal in August, cannot play in the cup final because she is on international duty against Euro 2017 winners Holland.

“I’m glad we had the chance to have her in the squad,” head coach Scott Booth said. “She gave us a bit of quality where we needed it, and when we needed it.”

Hibs also won 3-0, against Spartans in the Ainslie Park derby. As expected, captain Joelle Murray and midfielder Lisa Robertson returned from suspension, while there was an outing for Hannah Reid in goal, with Jenna Fife on the bench. Rachael Small’s goal separated the sides at half-time, and the midfielder added a second after 73 minutes. Lia Tweedie got the third six minutes later, as Spartans missed out on finishing fourth.

That place was claimed by Stirling University on goal difference despite their 2-0 loss to Celtic, who finished third behind Glasgow City and Hibs. Natalie Ross scored in the first half, with Kirsty Howat getting the second two minutes from the end.

In the 4pm kick-off Hamilton came from behind to beat Rangers 2-1. The game marked the final appearance in the Accies goal for veteran keeper Elaine Fleming.

She was beaten in the first half by Clare Gemmell, but Lori Gardner and Mhairi Lyle grabbed the win for the home side in the second.
